Symposium: The Global Commitment to Sustainable Development
About This Event
Japan played a leading role in the formulation of the sustainable development goal (SDG) agenda in 2015 and remains committed to leading implementation efforts to achieve them. From the creation of the SDG Promotion Headquarters, headed by the Prime Minister and comprised of all ministers, to the creation and adoption of a national strategy for implementation, Japan’s leadership has encouraged cross-sector partnerships and fostered innovation that has made our world healthier, more sustainable, and more food secure. What can the world learn from Japan’s commitment to the SDGs, and what more needs to be done to guarantee their achievement by 2030? How are Japanese and American companies in the Midwest innovating and developing technologies to create sustainable food systems and achieve the SDGs?
This symposium is made possible with the generous support of the Consulate General of Japan in Chicago.
