About This Event
For more than 70 years, Jordan and the United States have maintained diplomatic relations and have been strategic partners on many issues. In recent years, Jordan has been particularly active in regional economic, humanitarian, and security issues. Jordan currently plays host to over one million refugees and has played a key role in peace efforts in multiple conflicts; yet Jordan also faces domestic challenges related to water scarcity and development issues. Dina Kawar was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the United States of America in June 2016. Ambassador Kawar also served as the Permanent Representative of Jordan to the United Nations from August 2014 to June 2016.
