Molly Jirgal joined the Council in 2024 as a program officer for the Emerging Leaders (EL) Program within the Global Leadership Programs. In this role, she provides logistical support for the EL Program and assists with next-generation engagement, recruitment, and alumni relations.

Prior to joining the Council, Jirgal studied human rights in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she researched the intersections of religion, authoritarianism, and political violence. She also served as a research assistant for both quantitative and qualitative projects in the department of politics at the University of the South. Beyond her research, she worked with her university to develop programming for incoming first-year students and interned at Just Neighbors, a nonprofit organization providing legal services to the low-income immigrant community in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area.

Jirgal holds a BA in politics from Sewanee: The University of the South. She has professional working proficiency in Spanish and reading proficiency in Portuguese.
